Big Dig – 16th March

Information below on the Capital Growth third Big Dig volunteering day on Saturday, 16th March this year.

The Big Dig is a nationwide project which aims to engage over 10,000 people in community food growing projects across England by the end of September 2013. The Big Dig is being funded by the Social Action Fund and will be co-ordinated nationally by Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming. It will be delivered locally by partner organisations based in six cities across England – London, Brighton, Coventry, Manchester, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield. The Big Dig will provide training and advice to over 5,000 community food volunteers across these areas, as well as engage 5,000 other volunteers through corporate social opportunities and work with schools. Their aim is to involve local people, in creating vibrant community food gardens, which can reduce anti-social behaviour, provide fresh, healthy food and put pride into communities.
