Following the storms of 1987 residents of the Avenue realised that if we were to keep our street looking special we needed to give it some tender loving care. Our first Street Clean involved a lot of heavy work removing broken branches and fallen leaves, and ever since then we have been tidying up the street on a regular basis.
Not only is it a great way to spruce up the gardens, it is also an enjoyable way to meet your neighbours, discover common goals and get your hands dirty.
Our next Street Clean will be on Sunday 9th November, 10:30am onwards to get our lovely Josephine Avenue looking great again. The bulk of the hedge trimming has already been done by the Urban Art crew so this is your chance to spruce up your own front gardens.
Lambeth will kindly donated two skips to be used for green waste only. If you have bulky waste to collect please call Lambeth Council on 020 7926 9000. JAG also have some equipment residents can borrow from outside number 1 Helix Gardens, where we will be stopping at 1pm for lunch and refreshments.
