Parking Letter

Back in 2014 JAG residents had a go at trying to get the hours of our parking zone reviewed, as promised in the original consultation. We teamed up with neighbouring roads, and created a petition asking that this promise was met.

We were eventually told by Lambeth that a borough-wide review would be held instead starting at the North end of the borough, but we have heard nothing since.

If you are equally concerned please copy and paste the following letter (drafted by Hillary Box our Treasurer) and send to:

    Dear Councillor Jenny Braithwaite

In your capacity as Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability, which responsibility includes “Overseeing the borough’s parking needs, including traffic management and enforcement”, I would be grateful on an update on the following.

In 2014, several residents’ associations in the Q Parking zone banded together to  conduct surveys around what local people thought of the fabulous disparity in parking hours in our zone and neighbouring ones. We collected some thousand signatures from people requesting that the Council review and reduce the parking hours, which are currently 8.30 – 6.30 on weekdays, as I am sure you are aware. This information was given to the council by Councillor Mary Atkins.

After several months, we learned that Lambeth would not undertake this review on the basis that it was about to begin a borough-wide review of parking, starting in North Lambeth.

Since 2014, all has gone quiet – we have heard nothing since and would like to know where the Council has got on this. Please could you advise as I and my neighbours are anxious that the present iniquitous situation is rectified as soon as possible.

    Yours sincerely

    [Your Name]
