10.01.2007

Those present:

Garry Turnbull (Chair), Pelle Kraft, Anne Brown, Tim Sutton, Nick Berry(Treasurer), Lia Litossoletti, James Middleton, Doreen Cornick (FWA), Victoria Hardie.

1.APOLOGIES for absence from Sara Leon, Louise Belson ,

Roger Blantern, Elizabeth Owen, Chris VanDurren, Jonna Lansivuori, Christopher Kayatz.

2.PREVIOUS MINUTES were approved.

3.TREASURER. GT welcomed Nick Berry as the new JAG

Treasurer. NB offered to take the minutes as the secretary was

not present.

4.URBAN ART. TS reported that Frank Sarkodie, the current Street Traders Officer at Lambeth has informed TS that contrary to previous years, individual licences will have to be purchased for each of the artists exhibiting in future Urban Art Events. The full commercial daily rate will be £30.00 per pitch. TS  said that this would make the event unaffordable for most artists. TS requested that residents write to Frank explaining the benefits of the event to both the local community and the recipient charities. TS hopes to be able to negotiate a licence for 2008 at a favourable rate.

5.PROPOSED TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SCHEME. GT reported that this would be discussed at the next Steering group meeting.

TS asked if the dates of JASG meetings could be included in the minutes.

6. SNT. FUNDS TO ALLOCATE: £3000.00 GT reports that Hilary Box has been told that Lambeth Community Safety Partnership has been given £3,000 for the Ward, to be used by end of March 07. The panel (which includes HB as JAG rep & also reps from adjacent local areas, the Ward,) decides how this funding is spent.

GT asked for suggestions: LL suggested additional street lighting and that litter bins be placed ½ way down Josephine Avenue. GT thought funds should be used to benefit young people, possibly a sports scheme in Brockwell Park. AB pointed out that the park already had a much oversubscribed childrens play group.

7. JAG FUNDS TO SPEND – CHEQUE TO RB. RB was not present. GT and NB asked if RB could tell them the amount owed for the materials he used to paint all the pillars on Josephine Avenue so that a cheque could be written. AB said she would ask RB. LL reported damage to the rear wall of the FWA and worse damage to the pillar and frontage walls. The damage to the rear wall presented a security risk both to her property and to others on Appache Road. The pillar and frontage wall were now in danger of collapse and represented a danger to the general public. IO from the FWA said that the FWA property is rented and that the FWA has no funds to carry out the repairs. AB expressed support for the AGM decision to fund or part fund the repairs. IO thanked JAG for their past help. She also pointed out that she is not solely responsible for decisions made at the FWA on Josephine Avenue.

8. JAG MEETINGS ADVANCE SCHEDULE. TS suggested that meetings be held on the second Wednesday of every month instead of alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays as last year. This was clearer and anyway he was not available on Tuesdays.

GT and NB agreed.

9. ANY OTHER BUSINESS. TS said that it was very hard to get anyone off their backsides to volunteer to do anything and that he and GT had to do all the work between them. GT agreed. It was suggested that there was interest in re-instating the Josephine Avenue Website. TS said he did not wish to do this. No-one else volunteered to do so. TS enquired about current and future use of the notice-board at the bottom of his garden.
